Basque for English-Speakers
People familiar with the two languages generally have the impression that Basque and English could not be more different. While this may certainly be true in terms of their more superficial features, they are more similar than one might at first suspect in their internal structure. This book explores this apparent dichotomy. Some may also feel that reflecting on the nature of language is the pastime of fools, and though to some extent that may be true, by seasoning with abundant references to literature and cinema, history and folktales, songs and even gastronomy, reflections on language can become a rich and colorful voyage of discovery. It is just such a voyage that the reader of this book is invited to join.
